Norwood Elementary

This national recognition celebrates schools that are committed to creating socially inclusive school communities where all students are welcomed, valued, and given opportunities to learn, lead, connect, and participate together.

“This recognition is about so much more than a banner or an award,” said Dawn Manchester, Principal of Norwood School. “It reflects who we want to be as a school community. We believe every student belongs, every student has something to contribute, and every student should have opportunities to experience connection, friendship, leadership, and success. We are incredibly proud of the work our students and staff are doing to build a school where inclusion is not just something we talk about—it is something we live. We are lucky to have a committed staff and volunteers who work effortlessly to make these events happen!"  

Through the Unified Champion Schools program, Norwood is working to foster a school culture grounded in inclusion, acceptance, respect, and belonging. The program brings students with and without intellectual disabilities together through inclusive activities, leadership opportunities, and schoolwide efforts that promote meaningful connections.

Norwood School participates in Pay to Pour, Unified Basketball, Awareness Week, and other inclusive events throughout the year. Keep a look out for information about their celebration and scheduled events throughout the year.
